SPDI offers all types of educational and professional development needs and has become a reputable and competitive regional Professional Development Center serving teachers seeking high-quality and affordable Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credit. SPDI serves this population by keeping costs low and offers many online courses. Although we provide online courses, we still offer many "face-to-face" courses in a traditional classroom setting. We are proudly serve all Sachem teachers but have extended our services to over 45+ subscribing Long Island school districts!
Credit & Degree Information
In response to the increasing demand for high quality Professional Development opportunities for educators, Sachem Professional Development, Inc. (SPDI) was created by the Sachem Teachers' Union - Sachem Central Teachers' Association (SCTA). SPDI is designed to offer multiple offerings to meet all types of educational and professional development needs. All the course offerings and instructors are carefully scrutinized and approved by the SPDI Board to guarantee that every SPDI offering is rigorous, current and satisfies the high standards one expects of a top quality Professional Development center. To underscore this commitment SPDI has received NYSED approval as a Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) Sponsor. SPDI courses are in full compliance with the recently passed Section 80-6 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.
Whether you are a Sachem teacher or not, it is our goal to have SPDI be your first option when the time comes for you to focus on your professional development. The SPDI staff will continue to work on developing new programs that will both challenge and reward you.
Online Courses
Frontline Education has quickly become the de facto standard of web-based educator evaluation and professional learning data management solutions in many K-12 school districts throughout the United States and around the world. SPDI was among the first in New York to embrace its technology. As a result, SPDI can efficiently and expeditiously process your enrollment – from viewing our online catalog, registering, getting district course approval, paying for your courses by credit card, and, finally, sending the information of the completed activity back to your school district.

Course Approval - Please secure District Office approval when registering.
Registration - Please login to My Learning Plan to register for on-line courses.
*Note: Courses cannot be extended or rolled over.
Granting of CTLE Credit
It is highly recommended that prior approval for each in-service course to be used toward salary advancement be confirmed with your school district before enrolling. Depending on the school district, In-Service course credit up to nine CTLE credits per year can be taken within or outside of the District. Credit is usually given up to a maximum of nine (9) In-Service credit hours of the fifteen (15) hours needed for salary advancement. Teachers are reminded that the school "year" runs from July 1 - June 30.

Please note: Sachem School District grants CTLE credit based on 15 class hours for each In-Service credit.
Teachers from other districts should be aware that the awarding of CTLE credit is contingent on the policies and practices of their respective districts.
No refunds or credit will be given for the following:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - SACHEM TEACHERS
**PLEASE READ**
All CTLE courses used toward salary advancement must be approved by the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel prior to the start of each course. Credit will be given up to a maximum of nine (9) In-Service credit hours of the fifteen (15) hours needed for salary advancement. Teachers are reminded that the "school year" runs from July 1 - June 30. Prior approval is also required for anyone seeking graduate credit towards Masters +75.
